More About Laser Hair Removal
What is Laser Hair Removal?
This is a treatment that uses a laser to target the hair follicles. The laser removes the hair and prevents it from growing back. This treatment is able to remove the hair without damaging the skin. It is important to note that laser hair removal does not permanently prevent hair from growing back.
However, it can reduce hair growth by up to 80 percent. If the hair grows back, then it has a tendency to be sparser and finer. It may also be lighter in color.
What Parts of the Body can be Treated?
Almost any part of the body can be treated. This includes the face, legs, arms, chest, neck, stomach and back. It can also be used to treat sensitive areas of the body such as the areola and bikini line.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
You will have to go to the office a few times in order to get rid of the unwanted hair. The number of treatments that you need to get will depend on the areas of your body that are being treated.
It is also important to note that hair grows in cycles. This can also affect the number of treatments that you need. Most people will need to get two to six treatments.
Is Laser Hair Removal Painful?
Everyone has a different level of tolerance for pain. However, most people find that this treatment is not painful. There are also ways that the pain can be controlled. Ice can be used to numb the area.
Pre and Post Treatment
You will need to shave the area prior to your treatment. However, you should not wax or tweeze the area before your treatment. Limit sun exposure for two weeks before and after your treatment.
If you are taking antibiotics, then you will need to let your physician know. Antibiotics can make your skin more sensitive. Avoid getting chemical peels for two weeks before and after your treatment.
