QWO is the first and only FDA approved injectable for the treatment of cellulite.  This new and exciting non-surgical treatment is a great alternative to costly, ineffective topicals, and invasive surgical procedures.  QWO is made of collagenase, an enzyme that breaks down specific proteins in collagen.  When QWO is injected into the area of a dimple, it breaks down the fibrous bands that cause dimples and creases.  When these fibrous bands are dissolved, it allows the dimple to be released, and the fat to be redistributed and not bulge outwards.  This results in smoother looking skin. 

Treatment of cellulite with QWO involves three appointments for injections, spaced three weeks apart.  The injections are done with a small insulin needle, so they are comfortable and very well tolerated.  The injections take about 10 minutes, but there is additional time needed for marking the areas to be treated.  Currently, QWO is FDA approved for use in the buttocks, but it is also used off-label on the thighs with similar results.  

The most common side effect is bruising – everyone will bruise.  The bruise itself is not painful, but it does take 1-2 weeks to resolve.  With each treatment, the bruising is less severe and resolves quicker.  Bruising is temporary.  Once the bruising fades, the skin is left looking smooth with a dramatic improvement in appearance.
